Highland Homes
These pair of semi detached homes, which were designed to resemble a croft house which had been extended over time, were designed & built by us to zero carbon standards. We utilised passive solar design principles, renewables & mechanical ventilation with heat recovery to create an energy efficient home. The houses used 150mm P.U. insulation between the studs & 25mm over to prevent cold bridging in the walls & roof, with a mixture of rendered blockwork & cement board cladding to form the rain screen & composite slates & profiled metal sheets on the roof. Triple glazed timber windows were used to complete the insulated envelope.
Brixton Offices
These new offices were built on a challenging site situated on the roof of an existing building with limited access. The offices were above a recording studio & had to incorporate acoustic deadening to limit sound transmittance to the studios below. The building incorporates a cement particle board rain screen with brick slip finish which was also installed by our team. The roof is a single ply membrane system with standing seam effect.
Fintry Tiny Houses
These cabins were designed & built using the same spec as all our timber frame kits, with 9mm sheathing over 95x45 studs which allows for foil faced rigid insulation between studs, as well as exterior insulation giving customers a superior level of comfort. Along with the increased insulation we also incorporate passive solar design into the cabin where ever possible. In this cabin that has been achieved using the conservatory on the south side of the building & no glazing to the shaded north side. The conservatory also the heating load of the cabin to be kept to a minimum by using the air warmed by the sun to enter the cabin & warm the building. The conservatory also allows extra usable floor space in the cabin whilst giving views over the hills beyond.
The cabin is available for short stay rental for potential customers to experience the comfort levels in real world conditions.
Walmer Kent
Created for customers to have additional space for family & friends to stay when visiting, this annex has a living/kitchen downstairs & an en-suite bedroom upstairs. The annex has walls & roof with a U value of .19wk/m2, which makes it very thermally efficient, helping to keep it warm in the winter & cool in the summer too.
This project was built on site due to the very limited site access, although this led to some issues with storage & sequencing of the build, we managed to work around this to complete the project.
